Drop Point Service (SFTP)
What is the Drop Point service?
The Shiftboard ScheduleFlex DropPoint service is an automated, scheduled batch job service that can execute and export standard, custom, or vendor-specific reports and data files from ScheduleFlex to external systems such as payroll, enterprise HRIS/HCM/ERP, internal databases, dashboards, and other places. Similarly, the Drop Point service can be used to automate the importing of batch exports coming directly from other systems.
Automating both Export and Import processes using the Drop Point service provides a seamless, yet simple integration strategy for your existing systems and processes requiring minimal software development experience or management.
How does it work?
It's kind of like a mailbox! In conjunction with the reporting capabilities of Shiftboard and a flexible automated job scheduling feature, the sFTP-based DropPoint service provides a secure access location on our servers where Import and Export data files can be picked-up, processed, or delivered for transmission to external systems.
Any standard, custom, or vendor-specific data files and reports you select may be managed by the Drop Point Service. Using the sFTP protocol or client tools, you can either manually access files within the Drop Point or you can create (script) your own internal service to pick up the scheduled reports automatically at regularly specified times of the day, week, or month.
What do I need to get started?
The Drop Point sFTP service utilizes Public-key cryptography to ensure data is transferred securely. To authorize the Drop Point service for your Shiftboard account, we require a technical contact generate and provide us with the public key which your team or services will want to use to access your secure Drop Point.
Drop Point services are a separate add-on for most subscriptions, so if your subscription does not currently include the service you'll want to contact your Shiftboard ScheduleFlex Account Manager for a feasibility assessment prior to adding it to your account.
