Shiftboard's Voucher tool allows organizations to award redeemable "vouchers" to members based on hours worked, personal designation, or customization. The Voucher tool is an option when using our QR Codes and the QRPassport app.

How the Vouchers Work

This tool has a very specific use case, but it can be applied to a variety of organizations. The system can award tokens or coupons based on pre-determined criteria. Once a member meets these criteria, they will have a voucher attached to their account. The organization can track when members redeem the items.

  • Vouchers can be set to expire after a certain amount of time. 
  • Vouchers are redeemable through the QR codes
  • Shiftboard offers reports to see who has redeemed what, when, and what has expired.


Imagine a company awards cafeteria vouchers to staff members based on the number of hours worked. Shiftboard will look at the amount of hours a member is working on the calendar day and award them the appropriate number of coupons. For instance, if the company awards a $5 voucher for each member who has worked for three hours, a person assigned to six hours on the calendar would have two vouchers, worth $10, attached to their name.When the member orders an item from the cafeteria, they will scan their QR code and their meal will be covered up to the amount.

Depending on criteria, organizations can choose when Shiftboard looks at the calendar, like 6 AM, and make the vouchers available until 11:59 p.m. at which time they expire. There is also an option that vouchers never expire. 

How to Set Up Vouchers

Shiftboard's Customer Success Team will work with our technical team to set this tool up appropriately. We encourage organizations to do a test run of the Voucher tool to understand how it works before releasing it to members.

  • The QRPassport app can be downloaded in the Apple and Google Play stores.
  • Site Administrators control who is able to turn their device into a scanner.


Vouchers only work with Shiftboard's QR codes tool and Timekeeping must be turned on (but not necessarily used) to enable QR codes.
